Zefi Daraki

Zefi Daraki was born in 1939 in Athens. She worked as a secretary at the K. Doxiadis School of Housing between 1959 and 1964, and later at the Athens Municipal Library from 1964 to 1967, when she was dismissed by the Junta, and again from 1974 to 1984 as a librarian. During this period, she published the collections "Emploki," "The Garden with Burns," "Eclipse and the Semicircle of Blood," "The Wind and the Clocks," "The Midnight Wolf," "The Vague Events," among others, as well as the novellas "Martha Solger," "The Dream," "Lena Olem," and "The Game of Dreaming," poetry for children. These were followed by the collections "The Hanged Woman," "The Sacred Void," "I Slept the Ungrateful," "Sorrow Burns Our Shadows," "The Body Without a Master Key," "The Motionless in Pain," "The Opposite Time," "To Name You Means to Lose You," "Desolating." Her poetry has been published in Greek and foreign magazines. Her poems have been translated into the major European languages. Her books "The Body Without a Master Key" and "As Words" were translated by the poet Tom Nairn (published by Dionyssia Press, 2002).
