Margarita Dritsa

Margarita Dritsa was born in Egypt. She studied in England, France, and America. She earned her doctorate in economic history from the University of Paris I (Sorbonne-Pantheon) and became a Fellow at Robinson College, University of Cambridge. She was elected and served as an Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor in European Economic and Social History. She has taught Greek and European economic and social history as a visiting professor at universities in Greece and abroad. She also worked as a researcher at the Historical Archive of the National Bank of Greece and directed, conducted, or collaborated with research teams on topics related to economic history, banking and business history, and the history of tourism in Greece and internationally. She has published monographs and scholarly articles in Greek and international academic journals, authored texts for the Museum of Tourism, and regularly participates in international conferences. Her work focuses on economic and social history, business and banking history, biographies, and the history of tourism. Her major works include: "Industry and Banks in Greece during the Interwar Period," MIET, Athens, 1990; "L' Enterprise en Europe et en Grece XIX-XXee siecles" (co-edited with Alice Teichova & Hakan Lindgren), Sophis, 1991; "The Color of Success: The Greek Paint Industry 1830-1990," Trochalia, Athens, 1996; "European Enterprise, Strategies of Adaptation and Renewal in the Twentieth Century" (co-edited with Terry Gourvish), Trochalia, Athens, 1996; "The Archive of Konstantinos Ant. Vovolinis," Vol. I, Athens, 1997; "Greek Enterprises in the 20th Century: People and Activities" (editor), Kerkyra, Athens, 1999; "Dexameni - Lycabettus: Human Flows," Fereniki, Athens, 2004; "Emporiki Bank 1907-2007: Identity Changes and Transformations," Emporiki Bank, Athens, 2008, among others. She is an honorary member of the Association of Greek Women in Tourism and a founding member of several international scientific societies for Economic History and Business History. She has also contributed to the development of the Museum of Tourism in Athens.
