THEODOR SEUSS GEISEL (1904-1991), born in Springfield, Massachusetts, is considered one of the world’s greatest children’s book authors. Under the pen name Dr. Seuss, he wrote more than 40 children’s books that, with their distinctive illustrations and unique style, have shaped generations of children in the United States and around the world. His books have sold over 700 million copies and have been translated into more than 50 languages. In 1984, the author was honored with a special Pulitzer Prize for his contribution to the education and entertainment of America’s children and their parents for more than half a century.
