Amalia Tsaknia

Amalia Tsaknia was born in Athens in 1932. She graduated from the American College for Girls in 1950 and worked at the pharmaceutical company ABBOTT from 1953 to 1968. She was married to the poet and critic Spyros Tsaknias (1929-1999), with whom she had two children, Giorgos and Evi. In 1953, she published the comprehensive anthology "Chinese Poetry," which she continuously worked on and enriched. In 1977, she released a self-funded collection of her poems (she had been writing since childhood) titled "The Tree." Until her death in 1984, following a painful illness, she continued to write and translate poetry, prose, and theater without interruption. Her poems have been published in Greek literary magazines and translated into German, English, and Slovenian.
