Antonis G. CHourdakis

Antonis Chourdakis holds a Ph.D. from the Sorbonne University in Paris (Paris-V Rene Descartes, Sorbonne). His academic interests focus on the field of the History of Education and the pedagogical approach to History. He is the author of ten books and numerous studies and articles in Greek, English, French, Russian, Spanish, and Arabic. He has collaborated on programs related to the teaching of History, Language, and Culture and the production of educational material for primary and secondary education in Greece and abroad. He has participated in many international and global conferences in Greece (PEE, WAER, CESE), Europe (WHA, IAHE), and the USA (CIES, AERA). He is a member of the World History Association (WHA), the International Association for the History of Education (IAHE), the Pedagogical Society of Greece (PEE), the Interdisciplinary Association of Ancient Theatre (GITA, Montpellier III), the Historical and Folklore Society of Rethymno (ILER), and other associations. He has served as the General Secretary of the World Association of Educational Sciences (Association Mondiale des Sciences de l' Education, AMSE/WAER). He has also taught at Saint John's University in New York and collaborates with the Institute of History and History of Education of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2004, he was elected as a professor at the Department of Primary Education of the University of Crete, where he has been teaching since 1990.
