Eyi Voutsina

Evi Voutsina (1950-2013) was born in 1950 on the island of Lefkada, where she lived until 1968. She studied English Philology at Aristotle University and taught English privately for several years. She pursued a professional career in cooking and also engaged with the theoretical aspects of gastronomy, writing articles on the subject. Additionally, she systematically documented traditional cuisine by traveling throughout Greece. This documentation served as the foundation for the creative aspect of her work as a cook. Her first book, titled "Bread," was published in 1995 by Trochalia Publications, with a second edition released in 2000 by Kastaniotis Publications. Her second work on gastronomy, the four-volume "Greek Taste," was published by Kastaniotis Publications in 1998 and 2007. This was followed by the three-volume "Simple Cooking of Sacred Everyday Life" (Kastaniotis Publications, 2004) and "Saffron" (Krokos Kozanis Cooperative, 2004). She also published the three-volume work "Biographies of 360 Greek Authors and a Small Anthology" (Ktisti Publications, 1981). She expressed a wish to have cooked for Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Beatles, Markos Vamvakaris, and Vincent van Gogh. She passed away on December 10, 2013, at the age of 63.
