Michael McDowell

Michael McDowell was born in 1950 in Enterprise, Alabama. He studied English Literature at Harvard University. He wrote more than thirty novels. From 1985 onwards, he focused mainly on screenwriting, including the successful films "Beetlejuice" (1988) and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1993). He died in Boston on December 27, 1999, from AIDS. Tabitha King, wife of author Stephen King, completed his unfinished novel "Candles Burning," which was published in 2006. "Blackwater" was first published in 1983 in six volumes. It is one of the most beloved and widely read works of gothic horror in the United States and is considered a representative example of supernatural literature. In 2022, it was published in France and became a publishing phenomenon, selling over 500,000 copies. Today, it is available in more than 20 languages and has sold over 2,000,000 copies.
