Lucinda Riley was born in Ireland in 1965. After beginning her professional career as an actress in film, theater, and television, she wrote her first book at the age of twenty-four. Her books have been translated into forty languages and continue to resonate emotionally with readers from cultures all over the world. The series The Seven Sisters, in particular, has become a global phenomenon, creating its own unique genre of novel, and a seven-season television adaptation is currently in development. Her books have been nominated for numerous awards, including Italy’s Bancarella Prize, Germany’s Lovely Books, and the Romantic Novel of the Year. In 2020, she was awarded the Dutch Platinum Award, as a single one of her novels achieved more than 300,000 sales in a single year—a distinction last awarded to J. K. Rowling for Harry Potter. In 2017, Lucinda was diagnosed with cancer and passed away on June 11, 2021, surrounded by her family.
