Munir Hachemi

Munir Hachemi was born in Madrid in 1989. He studied Spanish philology at the University of Granada (his doctoral dissertation examines the reception of Borges in contemporary Spanish prose). He is a poet, writer, and translator from English and Chinese, and has worked as a professor and researcher at Peking University. His novel Zωντανά πλάσματα (Cosas vivas, 2018) was translated into several languages, was warmly received, and stood out for the originality of its style. In 2021, Granta included him on its list of the “25 best young Spanish-language storytellers.” In 2022, he was awarded the El Ojo Crítico de Poesía prize for his poetry collection los restos. His most recent works are the novel El árbol viene (2023), the biographical study Torrente Malvido. Arqueología del fracaso (2023), and the short story collection Lo que falta (2025).
