
Grigoris Tsounis
Grigoris Tsounis is a biologist, ornithologist, and author. For forty years, he has been dedicated to the study and protection of the Greek natural environment. His scientific research has been published in journals such as Oryx, Biologia - Gallohellenica, Naturopa, Rivista Italiana di Ornitologia, Phytologia Balcanica, Ucceli, Archaeology and Arts, Nature, among others. He served as Deputy Secretary General of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature from 1986 to 1988 and as Secretary General from 1990 to 1992.
During 1990-1991, he was a representative of Greece and the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature at the Council of Europe, at the Naturopa Center, and from 1990 to 1993, he represented Greece at the International Waterfowl and Wetlands Research Bureau.
He has collaborated with Greek and international universities and organizations on various research projects. In collaboration with renowned directors, he has participated in numerous documentaries about the Greek natural environment.
In 2006, together with his son Lambros, he discovered the long-lost endemic plant of the Acropolis, Micromeria acropolitana.
He has authored numerous books, studies, and articles.
