
Ariel Dorfman
Ariel Dorfman was born in Argentina in 1942. A Chilean citizen, he was forced into exile following the coup that overthrew Salvador Allende. An author of numerous novels, plays, and essays, he is considered today "one of the most important voices coming out of Latin America" (Salman Rushdie). His award-winning play "Death and the Maiden" was adapted into a film by Roman Polanski. Ariel Dorfman lives with his family in Durham, North Carolina.
