Emily Brontë

Emily Jane Brontë was born in July 1818 and died in December 1848. She was one of six children of Reverend Patrick Brontë and Maria Branwell. The children were raised in Haworth, Yorkshire. The successive deaths of her siblings influenced her writings. She wrote imaginative stories and lyrical poems and worked as a teacher for a short period. In 1847, a year before her death, her only novel, "Wuthering Heights," was published under the pseudonym Ellis Bell. At her brother Branwell's funeral, she caught a cold, which developed into tuberculosis, and she died at the age of 30.
