Giorgos Mplanas

Giorgos Blanas was born in Aigaleo, Attica, in 1959. He studied electrical engineering and library science. He has worked as a postman, librarian, bookstore clerk, and copywriter in advertising. He has collaborated with numerous political and literary magazines. He has published the poetry books: "The Life Swims Like an Unwitting Whale Before the Slaughter," Hyacinth, 1987, "Your Inevitable Flourishing," Diatton, 1990, "Night," Nefeli, 1991, "Frenzy!", Dolphin, 1997, "Anna," Erato, 1998, "His Answer," Nefeli, 2000, "Episode," Nefeli, 2002, and "The Poems of the Previous Century" - a reissue of the first four collections, Erato, 2004, "Ode to Georgios Karaiskakis," Gavriilidis, 2010, "Stasiotika [1-50]," Gavriilidis, 2011. He has also translated works by contemporary and older American and British prose writers and poets, Greek classics, and poets of the art of haiku.
