Tasos Giannitsis
Tasos Giannitsis was born in Athens in 1944. He is an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he served from 1975 to 2011. He studied Law and Economic and Political Sciences at the same university and earned his doctorate at the Free University of Berlin. He has served as Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs (in the governments of K. Simitis), as well as Minister of the Interior (in the government of L. Papademos). He has published numerous books on economic issues and economic policy, as well as articles on economic and social topics. His scientific and research interests lie in the fields of development theory and policy, international economics, European integration, the economics of technology, and industrial organization and policy.
