Ahmet Ümit

Ahmet Ümit was born in Gaziantep, Turkey, in 1960 and currently resides in Istanbul. He studied Public Administration at Marmara University and Political Science at the Moscow Academy of Political Sciences. Although he began his writing career with stories, his first published work was a poetry anthology titled "The Hideout of the Street." In 1992, he published "The Barefoot Night," which earned him the "Ferit Bayır Writing and Art Award." In 1994, his story "A Scream Tearing the Night" and the children's book "A Tale Within a Tale" were published. The tension present in all his books was fully realized in "Fog and Night," published in 1996. In 1998, he released "The Scent of Fear," which broke the mold of traditional detective novels and set a new standard. This was followed by "Agatha's Key," which includes detective stories, and "Crimes with a Designation of Origin." In 2010, he published "The Memories of Istanbul" to great success.
