Dimitra Kolliakou

Dimitra Kolliakou was born in Athens in 1968. She studied classical philology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and completed a doctoral dissertation in theoretical linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. Her research work has focused on syntax and semantics issues in Modern Greek and English. She taught linguistics at Newcastle University (1995-2010) and at Paris Diderot University / now Université de Paris (2010-2014), and has been involved in teaching creative writing at the Patakis Publishers workshops (2013-2016) and the Hellenic Open University (2017-2019). Her literary work has been honored with the State Short Story Award, the short story award from "Anagnostis" magazine, the novel award from the Petros Haris Foundation of the Academy of Athens, the Athens Prize for Literature from "(De)kata" magazine, and the Jim Wilson Debut Author Award from the National Book Centre of Greece. She is a member of the Society of Authors.
