Titus Carus Lucretius

Titus Lucretius Carus was born around 98-94 BC and died around 55-53 BC. He was a Roman poet and philosopher. His only known work is the extensive philosophical poem "De Rerum Natura" ("On the Nature of Things"), consisting of 7,415 lines with Epicurean themes. Although the flourishing of Latin hexameter is usually attributed to Virgil, the influence of "De Rerum Natura" on him and other later poets is undeniable. It is also significant for its role in the transmission of Greek philosophical ideas and the refinement of the Latin language.
