Grigoris I. Tsaltas
Gregory I. Tsaltas was born in Athens. He is a Professor of International Law, the President of the Department of International and European Studies, and the Rector of Panteion University. He holds a Doctorate (Docteur d'Etat en Droit - unanimously excellent) from the University of Legal and Economic Sciences, Nice (France). He is a Political Scientist (Panteion School of Political Sciences) and holds two Postgraduate Diplomas from the Université de Nice (Diplôme d'Études Supérieures) and the Institut Européen des Hautes Études Internationales. He has served as a Scientific Advisor in the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs, and Defense, and as a director and coordinator in numerous European programs. He has also been an evaluator of European programs upon invitation by the European Commission. He is the director of the European Centre for Environmental Research and Training at Panteion University, a founding member and vice president of the Hellenic Society of International Law and International Relations, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Institute of the Law of the Sea and Maritime Law. He holds a Jean Monnet European Chair titled "European Union and Developing Countries." He has served as vice president of the Association Internationale de Droit de l'Urbanisme (Paris, France). He has been a visiting professor and has taught at universities such as Paris I - Sorbonne (France), Tilburg (Netherlands), Comillas (ICADE) - Madrid (Spain), Dubrovnik (former Yugoslavia), University of Cyprus and Cyprus College (Cyprus), Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Cadi Ayyad (Morocco), and Krakow (Poland). He has participated in numerous international and Greek conferences, workshops, and scientific forums. His books and more than 120 articles have been published in Greek, English, and French. He has edited a series of conference proceedings volumes for the European Centre for Environmental Research and Training on Environment and Sustainable Development. He has been awarded by the "Melina Mercouri" Cultural Center and the International Society of Greek Writers and Artists for his scientific work, and he has received the Golden Cross of the Apostle and Evangelist Luke from the Holy Metropolis of Thebes and Livadeia.
