
Amélie Nothomb
Amelie Nothomb was born in 1967 in Kobe, Japan, into a family of Belgian diplomats, and followed her parents to various parts of the world. She studied Romance languages at the Free University of Brussels and worked as an interpreter in Japan. Today, she resides in Paris and Brussels. Describing herself as a "graphomaniac," she has been publishing a novel every autumn since 1992, each becoming an instant bestseller. She has been honored with numerous awards, including the Grand Prix de l'Academie Francaise, and her books have been adapted for theater, opera, and film.
