Loukas D. Tsitsipis

Professor of Anthropology and Linguistics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin, along with two master's degrees, one in Anthropology and the other in Linguistics from the same university (1981). He has authored a Greek book titled "Introduction to the Anthropology of Language: Language, Ideology, Dialogicality, and Performance" (Gutenberg, Athens 1995) and an English book titled "A Linguistic Anthropology of Praxis and Language Shift: Arvanitika (Albanian) and Greek in Contact" (Clarendon Press, Oxford 1998). He has published in journals and is interested in issues of language ideologies, political theory and language, and the performative aspects of discourse.
