Ntinos Siotis

Dinos Siotis (journalist, poet, author, publisher) was born in Tinos on December 19, 1944. He studied Law at the University of Athens and Comparative Literature at San Francisco State University. In America and Canada, where he lived from 1971 to 1989 and from 1997 to 2004, he worked as a journalist and as a Press Counselor at the Greek embassy in Ottawa and at the Greek consulates in San Francisco, New York, and Boston. He has given lectures and organized and participated in seminars, conferences, and symposia on Greek literature and culture. From 1971 to the present, in the USA, Canada, and Greece, he has organized around eight hundred events related to Greek letters and culture in general. From 1979 to 2009, he regularly collaborated with the Sunday edition of "To Vima," contributing reviews and articles on books and communication. He has published thirteen political and literary magazines in Greek and English, twenty-six poetry collections (three in English and one in French), a novel, a novella, and a collection of narratives. His poems have been translated into ten languages. Since spring 2005, he has been publishing the magazine (de)kata, since March 2009 the magazine Poetix, and since January 2015 the magazine Tranz.ito. In 2007, his collection "Autobiography of a Target" (Kedros, 2006) was honored with the State Poetry Award. He is the president of the non-profit organization "Society of (de)kata," director of the "Tinos International Literary Festival," and communications manager for the "World Poetry Movement," based in Medellín, Colombia. In March 2011, together with Anastasios Vistonitis, he initiated the "Circle of Poets" in Athens, and in September 2012, he was elected as its first president.
