Tasos Apostolidis

Tasos Apostolidis was born in Thessaloniki in 1947. He studied mathematics and currently directs the secondary education program at the American Farm School of Thessaloniki. From 1972 to 1984, he collaborated with newspapers and magazines in Athens and Thessaloniki as a columnist and humorist. In the early 1980s, he became known as a comic book scriptwriter through his adaptations of eleven Aristophanes comedies. Over its 25 years of publication, this series has sold over 700,000 copies. Eight of the titles have been translated into English, French, and German. In total, 30 comic albums featuring his scripts have been published, including "Aesop's Fables," "The Labors of Vougdoupos," "Lost Spectrum," "Tinella Kallinike," and others. He has also written scripts for comic strips, CD-ROMs, DVDs, as well as short comedic theatrical monologues and texts for stand-up comedy. In 1999, he founded the Heretical Theater Group and is the exclusive writer and director of its performances. He taught "Scriptwriting Techniques" at the Aura, Praxis, and Parallax schools. He has organized and curated numerous exhibitions and events related to comics and caricature. He is a member of the Greek Directors' Guild.
