Nikos Koutsis

Nikos Koutsis was born in Athens on the 25th anniversary of the Schumann Declaration. As the grandson of the writer and musician Nikos Koutsis-Katarrachiotis, he grew up in a home filled with a piano and many books, fostering a love for music and, more importantly, reading, with a particular emphasis on ancient Greek authors and History. In the year of Change, he began learning French and German while also starting piano and vocal lessons with the late Terpsichori Papastefanou. He was about 12 when he discovered girls and his talent for mastering words (unfortunately, not girls). He learned English primarily by paraphrasing his favorite songs into Greek. Through hard work day and night, he graduated in 2000 from the Department of French Language and Literature at the School of Philosophy in Athens. In 2005, he was admitted to the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus (after national exams) and simultaneously began studying English Law at the American University of Athens until 2008 when the crisis that still plagues us "grabbed" him. That same year, he started working at the National Bank. He has been living, working, engaging socially, and creating in Lavrio for several years now. He is multilingual and cannot live without books, music, and chocolate. "The Sad Guitar" is his first collection of songs, both translated and original.
