Leonidas CHristakis

Essayist, publisher, editor, writer, translator, and painter Leonidas Christakis was born in 1928 in Thessaloniki and passed away in Athens in April 2009. He was a graduate of the Pedagogical Academy and the School of Fine Arts. During the Occupation, he participated in the National Resistance, and during the junta, he was imprisoned. Starting in 1958, he worked as a freelance reporter with "Ta Nea" alongside Kostas Nitsos and with "Eikones." As a visual artist, he created a thousand portraits, "from Vathis Square to the Petraki Monastery," as he himself said. Since the 1950s, he published the magazines "Kouros," "Panderma," and "Ideodromio" and collaborated with the magazines "Pali" and "Sima." He studied and introduced to the reading public the lives of many creators, both Greek and foreign.
