Michail Mitras

Michail Mitras was born in 1944 in Volos. He studied law at the University of Thessaloniki and radio directing at the City Literary Institute in London, where he lived for four years, working for the Greek program of the BBC. He traveled to many European countries and the USA. His writings appeared in literary magazines in the 1960s, and his first book ("Fantastic Novella") was published in 1972. He contributed to the editorial work of cultural magazine publications "Chronicle" (published by Ora) and "Sima" in the 1970s, as well as with the magazines "Revma" in the 1990s and "Nea Synteleia" in the 2000s. He worked as a producer of talk shows for the Hellenic Radio (First and Third Program) from 1983 to 2003. He served as a member of the board of directors of the Society of Authors from 2001 to 2003. Following his proposal in 1998, the Society of Authors established Poetry Day for the first time in Greece. He wrote poetry and prose books that belong to the realm of modern literature and exhibited "visual poems" and "Mail Art" works in solo and group exhibitions both in Greece and abroad. He passed away on March 6, 2019.
