Dimitris Tsatsoulis was born in Athens. He studied philology, sociology, and political science in Athens and Paris. He holds postgraduate degrees: D.E.A. from the Université de Droit, d'Economie et de Sciences Sociales de Paris (Paris II), Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales de Paris, Université Paris X - Nanterre, and Diplomas from the Université Paris II & Institut Universitaire International de Luxembourg. He is a graduate of Panteion University and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Athens. He is a Professor of Theatre Semiotics and Performance Theory at the Department of Theatre Studies, University of Patras. He also teaches performance studies, semiology of literature and image at the Hellenic American Educational Foundation, and Modern Greek Literature History/Non-dramatic Text Interpretation at the Higher Drama School "Themelio." He has been a permanent theatre critic for the magazine "Nea Estia" (since 1999) and a regular columnist on theatre for "Kyriakatiki Eleftherotypia" (Insert "7") since 2008. He has collaborated for many years with almost all domestic literary magazines—some of which he was or is a member of the scientific committee—with foreign theatre journals, and with all major newspapers as a book critic, theatre critic, or columnist. He has worked with theatre groups as a translator, in dramaturgical processing, etc. He has been a member, among others, of: - the Committee for State Literary Awards of the Ministry of Culture (2001-2003), - the Advisory Theatre Committee of the Ministry of Culture (2006-2007, and President from 2011), - the Koun Awards Committee and the Theatre and Music Critics Awards (2001-2004, 2005-2006, 2008-2009), - an elected member of the Board of the Hellenic Centre of the International Theatre Institute of UNESCO (2008-2010), - the Committee for the "Athens System" Action of the Hellenic Centre of the International Theatre Institute (2007-2009), - the Secondary Committee of the National Theatre's playwriting competition (2008), - He was the inspirer and coordinator of the "Meeting of Young Creators on the Occasion of Ancient Drama" at the European Cultural Centre of Delphi (2007-2009), with symposia, workshops, performances, actions, etc. He has collaborated: - in literary productions of the State Television as a screenwriter, - as a translator of classical theatrical texts (French medieval farces, Racine), - in the production, dramaturgy, and direction of theatrical performances (National Theatre - Empty Space, Tripoli Festival, etc.).
