Dionysis N. Mousmoutis
Born in Athens in 1960, the author is a writer, critic, and director of the magazine "History." Since 1995, he has worked as a business executive. During the 1980s, he worked at the Press Center for Hellenic Culture. Since the late 1970s, he has published a series of studies and articles on modern Greek literature and theater, as well as reviews. He has also participated in numerous scientific conferences. His studies, essays, and reviews—over 1,200 in total—have been published in magazines, newspapers, conference proceedings, commemorative volumes, collective works, and more. Notable publications include the newspapers "Kathimerini," "To Vima," "Eleftherotypia," and periodicals such as "Hellenic World," "Epilogue," "Eptanisiaka Fylla," "Porphyra," "Kefaliniaka Chronika," "Nea Estia," "Odos Panos," "Periplous," "K (Literary and Arts Critique Magazine)," "Diavazo," "History Illustrated," "Epilogue," "Akti," "Parodos," "Musical Hellenomnimons," "Ionian Analekta," "Sisyphus," "Frear," among others. He curated tributes to Dionysios Solomos, Andreas Kalvos, Ugo Foscolo, Nikos Kavvadias, Alexandros Papadiamantis, Odysseas Elytis, as well as historical novels, detective novels, travel literature, and more in the magazine "Diavazo" and the newspaper "Eleftherotypia." He has been writing for the local press of his hometown Zakynthos since 1975. From 2000 to 2002, he published the annual edition "Zakynthos, Literary Historical and Folklore Calendar." He has anthologized Zakynthian poets in "Ellinomouseion / Akti." He is a member of many societies, scientific associations, organizations, and cultural institutions, such as the Historical and Ethnological Society of Greece, the Heraldic and Genealogical Society, the Hellenic Folklore Society, the National Society of Greek Writers, the Corfu Studies Society, the Museum of Solomos and Eminent Zakynthians, the Musical and Dramatic Association "Athens Conservatory," the Center for Research and Study of Greek Theater-Theatrical Museum, among others. He has been elected to the boards of the Hellenic Folklore Society, the National Society of Greek Writers, the Greek P.E.N., and the "Ugo Foscolo" Association. He also serves as a consultant on the boards of foundations. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. In 2011, he was awarded the Essay Prize of the Ouranis Foundation by the Academy of Athens for his book "Ugo Foscolo, Historical and Biographical Addenda."
