Giorgos Romanos
Giorgos Romanos was born in Thessaloniki in 1948. He writes novels, short stories, essays, and teaches narratology in seminars. He is a member of the Society of Authors. He made his literary debut in 1977 with his book "Alexander and Other Stories" (Prosperos). Since 1973, he has been publishing short stories in reputable literary magazines and newspapers, and essays since 1978. His short stories have been translated into English, French, German, and Russian. To date, he has published six collections of short stories, two novels, one novella, two studies, and a translation of Dylan Thomas's short stories. He has been a book editor since 1972 and, since 1997, the publisher of the literary magazine 'Pandora' and its associated publications. Education: Medical degree (1972) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Postgraduate studies and specialization at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he also studied in the Faculty of Philosophy. He worked as a doctor until 1992. In 2011, he created the online magazine pandoraperiodiko.blogspot.com and the blog romanosg.blogspot.com. As a painter, he is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece. Since 1984, he has held 10 solo exhibitions and, since 1966, participated in 45 group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Awards and Distinctions - Selected: 2004: His book "Ten Rock and One Blues for Three," Short Stories, Metaichmio, was introduced for teaching at the universities of Berlin and Tbilisi. 2006: Medal of the Municipality of Papagou for his contribution to literature and the arts. 2009: For his book "Casablanca Café," Novel, Ankyra, 2008, and for his overall work, he was awarded the Northern Greece Book Publishers Award. Selected Bibliography: There has been a bibliography on G.R.'s work since 1978. More than fifty extensive critical studies and dozens of shorter texts have been written in magazines and newspapers. His work has been presented in literary and art venues, conferences, as well as radio and television programs. He has given interviews on television, radio, and in the daily and periodical press. a.
