Kostis Papakogos

Kostis Papakongos was born in 1936 in Pachtouri, in central Pindus. He is a member of the Swedish Writers' Union and the PEN Club, resides permanently in Stockholm, and is exclusively dedicated to literature. To date, he has published fifteen poetry collections and eight other books in various languages. During the dark seven-year period, he actively participated in the anti-dictatorship struggle and published numerous enlightening articles about Greece in the Scandinavian press, mainly in the major newspapers Dagens Nyheter and Aftonbladet. His lyrical books "Polar Night," "Dreams," and "Myths" are inspired by this struggle and simultaneously express the broader revolutionary spirit that prevailed worldwide during the 1970s. A significant milestone in K.P.'s work is considered the publication in the North of the occupation trilogy: "Captain Aris," "Letters for Aris," and "The Fighter and the Star." These books, along with the public discussions they sparked and the reviews they received, made the previously unknown Greek National Resistance permanently known in Scandinavia. Since the mid-1960s, K.P. has been permanently residing in Stockholm and is exclusively devoted to literature. Most of his work remains unpublished in Greece.
