Antzela Dimitrakaki

Angela Dimitrakaki was born in Mytilene in 1968. With studies at the School of Philosophy in Athens and at the Universities of Essex and Reading in the UK, she has a rich research portfolio, focusing on the political dimension and the interventionist nature of art from the 1970s to the present. In addition to the short story collection "The Opening of the Nose" (Oxy 1999), she has authored the novels "Antarctica" (Oxy 1997, revised edition 2006), "Antithalassa" (Oxy 2002), "The Manifesto of Defeat" (Estia 2006), "Inside a Girl Like You" (Estia 2009), "Aeroplast" (Estia 2015), the short story collection "Four Testimonies for the Exhumation of the Erinnyos River" (Estia 2016, awarded the Short Story/Novella Prize by the Anagnostis magazine and the Kostas and Eleni Ourani Foundation of the Academy of Athens), as well as the study "Art and Globalization" (Estia, 2013). Her short stories have been published in magazines and anthologies. She teaches contemporary art theory at the University of Edinburgh (Edinburgh College of Art).
