
Alexis Irakleidis
Alexis Heraclides is a professor of International Relations and conflict analysis-resolution at the Department of Political Science and History at Panteion University. He served as an expert for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on minority and humanitarian issues from 1983 to 1997. Born in Alexandria in 1952, his distant roots trace back to Cyprus, specifically from Morphou and Paphos (of the Fikardou lineage). He studied at Panteion School and at the universities of London (University College) and Kent. His main academic research focuses on secessionist conflicts, the self-determination of peoples, intervention, multilateral diplomacy, Greek foreign policy, and conflict analysis-resolution, including issues such as the Middle East conflict, Kosovo, South Sudan, the Greek-Turkish Aegean dispute, the Cyprus issue, among others.
