René Guénon

René Guénon was born on November 15, 1886, in the city of Blois, France, and from a young age, he had very fragile health. He successfully pursued his early studies, mainly in philosophy, but abandoned them to devote himself to Occultism and Theosophy. He oriented himself towards the idea of a "primordial unity of knowledge" and an original "orthodox" tradition, to which he remained faithful throughout his life. Simultaneously, in a more practical field, he was interested in the restoration of this tradition and the reactivation of its principles and doctrines in the modern world. Believing that the world, especially the Western world, is following a trend of gradual and steady deviation from the correct "orthodox" path, he dedicated all his works to describing this deviation while also striving to bring back to light the lost brilliance and hidden truth that the world possessed when it constituted what Guénon calls "traditional societies."
