Giannis Maniatis
Giannis Maniatis was born in Argos in 1956. He holds a degree in Rural and Surveying Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and a Ph.D. in Engineering. Since 1995, he has been an associate professor at the School of Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and since 2002, he has been an associate professor at the University of Piraeus. He has been a visiting professor at the Institute of Economic Geography at the University of Bonn. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Environmental Monitoring and Protection, Geographic Information Systems, European Structural Policies, Cadastre and Land Policy, and Technology Innovation Management, among others. He has published over 80 scientific papers in international conferences and journals. He was elected as a Member of Parliament for Argolis in the 2004 and 2007 elections. He serves as a rapporteur for the Parliamentary Sector of Work (KTE) of the Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works for PASOK, a member of the Parliament's Economic Affairs Committee, a board member of the Andreas Papandreou Institute of Strategic and Development Studies (ISTAME), and is responsible for the Green Development sector. He has also served as Secretary of the Development, Competitiveness, and Consumer Policy Sector of PASOK, rapporteur for the KTE of the Ministry of Transport & Communications, a member of the Parliament's Production & Trade, Social Affairs, and Research & Technology Committees, General Secretary of the Ministry of Transport & Communications, and President of the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA).
