
Spyros Tzouvelis
Spyros Tzouvelis (Tzouvelopoulos) was born in Nikiforos, Drama, in 1925. In 1934, he moved with his parents to Athens, where he studied Law and practiced as a lawyer. He published several poetry collections, including "The Spring of the Gods" (1959), "Fifth String" (1982), "Rhymes" (2005), and "Shots in the Void" (2016), as well as a collection of short stories titled "The Minefield" (1992), the novel "The Dark Enigma," and translations of Apollinaire's poems with his own introduction (1972). He pursued independent studies in Greece and abroad in the History of Civilizations and the History of Art, and contributed critical notes and book reviews to various literary magazines. He engaged intensively with Cavafy, especially his historical poems, from 1980 onwards. He passed away on October 6, 2019.
