Branimir Scepanovic

Branimir Scepanovic was born in 1937 in Titograd. He published the books "Before the Truth" (short stories, 1961), "Shameful Summer" (novel, 1965), which was translated into Polish, Hungarian, and Slovenian, "Mouth Full of Earth" (novel, 1974), which was translated into French (4 editions), Greek (3 editions), Russian (2 editions), Polish, Hungarian, Slovenian, Albanian, Japanese, Swedish, English, Italian, German, Danish, and Finnish. "The Death of Mr. Goluzha" (short stories, 1977), was translated into 26 languages. "The Redemption" (novel, 1980), was translated into French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Czech, and Polish. Scepanovic's short stories have been translated into 24 languages and included in 22 anthologies in Yugoslavia and abroad. The short story "The Death of Mr. Goluzha" (a unique work from Yugoslav literature) was included in Charles Angoff's selection of world short stories in 1969 in the USA, and in the Anthology of Contemporary European Short Stories published in 1977 in Denmark. Many films have been made based on Scepanovic's scripts, and he has been awarded numerous times for both his screenplays and his books in Yugoslavia and internationally.
