Giannis D. Mpartzis

Giannis D. Bartzis was born in 1951 in Ancient Corinth. He studied teaching at the Marasleio Pedagogical Academy and worked for over 30 years in schools in Kalavryta and Corinthia. He holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Primary Education at the University of Athens and served as a School Counselor in the Corinthia region from 2016 to 2010. He collaborated with the Pedagogical Institute from 2003 to 2006 as an evaluator in the creation of new Greek Language teaching packages (Readers for the 2nd and 6th grades). He has written several books on school work, and his presence in Children's Literature is also significant. Four of his novels have been awarded national prizes. Some of his works include: "The Ants of Peace," "Wooden Fairy Tale," "66 Phrases of Two and a Half Thousand Years," "Argive Vespers" (Michaela Averoff Award from E.E.L.), "UFO in Digeliotika" (Science Fiction Award from G.L.S.), "The Day Before," "Tiriglik" (Dionysios Trovas Award from G.L.S.), "Easter Stories," "Anthology of Christmas and New Year's Stories," "UFO in the Second Grade" (commendation from G.L.S.), among others. In 2006, his double philological study was published: "Petros Pikros - Engagement, Controversies, Bitterness in the Literature of the Interwar Period" and "Bibliography - Works of Petros Pikros." In December 2008, his study "Corinthia in Children's Literature" was published with the sponsorship of the Corinthia Prefecture. With informative prefaces and his own editing, unknown works of Petros Pikros have been published, which he discovered and identified under unknown pseudonyms in interwar magazines, such as: "Theophano - The Messalina of Byzantium" (2010), "From the Sick Life - Life with Dreams - Number 11" (2011), "Spinalonga" (2011), "Lucretia Borgia - Bloody Loves of the Middle Ages" (2012). In 2012, his novel "Orhan: In the Court of the Palaiologos" was published by Antonios Stamoulis Publishing (Thessaloniki). For twenty years, from 1993 to 2012, he wrote and published the quarterly local newspaper "Akrokorinthos" in Ancient Corinth. He was a long-time collaborator of the children's magazine of PASEGES, "Cooperation," and in December 2013, he was elected President of the Society of Corinthian Writers. On the website of the Society of Corinthian Writers, www.korinthianwriters.gr, his collection of short stories "A Hundred Waves" and a collection of political commentaries on current issues "Urgently a Leader" (2012) are published in digital form.
