
Ian Kershaw
Ian Kershaw served as a professor of modern history at the University of Sheffield and is one of the world's leading authorities on Hitler. For his contributions to historiography, he has been awarded the German Federal Cross of Merit (1994), was knighted (2002), and received the Norton Medlicott Medal from the Historical Association (2004). He collaborated with the BBC as a scientific advisor on three documentary series about World War II. He was also the historical advisor for the highly successful BBC television series "The Nazis: A Warning from History." His first volume, "Hitler 1889-1936: Hubris" (Scripta, 2005), and more recent books include "Making Friends with Hitler: Lord Londonderry and the British Road to War," which won the Elizabeth Longford Prize for Historical Biography in 2005, and "Hitler 1936-1945: Nemesis" (Scripta, 2005), which was honored with the Wolfson Literary Award for History and the Austrian Bruno Kreisky Prize for the Political Book of the Year, and tied for first place for the British Academy Book Prize. He is a fellow of the British Academy.
