Margaret Mahy

Margaret Mahy was born in Whakatane, New Zealand, in 1936. She studied at the University of Auckland and subsequently worked in a school library in Christchurch while she began publishing her first children's stories. A prolific and highly awarded author of children's literature, she was honored with the Carnegie Medal from the British Library Association in 1987 and the international Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2006.
