
Foivos Piompinos
Phoebus I. Piombinos (Athens, 1945), a graduate of the German School of Athens (Dörpfeld Gymnasium), studied economics in Athens (Athens University of Economics and Business) and economics and philosophy in Paris (Sorbonne and École Pratique des Hautes Études). He is a retiree of the National Bank of Greece, where he worked for 32 years (1964-1996). For the last twelve years of his career, he was the head of the Historical Archive of the National Bank of Greece.
In 1979, he published the book "Greek Icon Painters up to 1821" (2nd edition revised and improved 1984, ELIA), in 1996 "Study of Death" (2nd edition 2006, Maistros), in 2003 his testimony on the painter Theodoros Stamos (Fagotto/Throisma), in 2014 "Memories of Places" (Thines), and in 2016 "Scattered Thoughts on the Greek Line" (Editions of the Phoenix). He translates French, German, and Italian literature and collaborates with the most significant Greek literary magazines.
