Edgar Wallace
Edgar Wallace (1875-1932) was an English journalist and crime fiction author, widely traveled in his youth. With his "unconventional" heroes, he pioneered a new direction in crime literature: operating on the fringes of the law, they do not hesitate to get their hands bloody to deliver justice themselves. However, even the most ruthless killers bend in the face of love. Motivated by the extraordinary success of his works, Edgar Wallace created an entire "industry" of crime narratives. He wrote 172 novels and 17 plays, many of which were adapted into films. More detailed information can be found on the website of "The Edgar Wallace Society," www.edgarwallace.org, which was founded after his death by his youngest daughter, Penelope Wallace.
