Niccolò Ammaniti
Niccolò Ammaniti was born in Rome in 1966. He is considered the most significant Italian author of his generation, and his novel "I'm Not Scared" is one of the best-selling successes of contemporary Italian literature (selling over 800,000 copies in Italy alone). His first book was the novel "Branchie" (1994). This was followed by the essay "Nel nome del figlio," co-written with his father Massimo, and the short story collection "Fango" (Mud, Kastaniotis Editions 2000), which brought him wider recognition. His short stories have also been published in the anthologies "Gioventù cannibale" (1996) and "Tutti i denti del mostro sono perfetti" (1997). With the novel "I'll Steal You Away," released in Italy in 1999, Ammaniti received great acclaim from both the public and critics. In 2001, he released the novel "Io non ho paura" with great success. His novel "As God Commands" (translated by Anteos Chrysostomidis, 2008) was honored in 2007 with his country's most prestigious literary award, the Strega Prize.
