Michalis Pieris

Michalis Pieris was born in 1952 in Eftagonia, Cyprus. He studied philology and theater in Thessaloniki and Sydney and has published several philological and critical studies. He has released three poetry collections in the publishing series of the magazine Planodion and a theatrical adaptation of the medieval Chronicle of Cyprus by Leontios Machairas, which he taught at the University of Cyprus. He has published poems and short stories in Cypriot magazines (also under the literary pseudonym Michalis Eftagonitis). His poetry has been translated into English, Italian, Catalan, Russian, and Turkish and has received accolades in various countries abroad. He has lived for extended periods in Limassol, Thessaloniki, Sydney, Athens, Rethymno, and Melbourne, and has traveled to many countries. Since 1993, he has been residing permanently in Nicosia, teaching poetry and theater at the University of Cyprus.
