Georgios K. Papazoglou

Georgios K. Papazoglou is a professor at the Democritus University of Thrace (History and Sources - Palaeography). He studied in Greece and abroad, with postdoctoral studies in Vienna (Institut für Byzantinistik). Since 1994, he has founded and directed the Palaeography Laboratory at D.U.Th. He has served multiple consecutive terms as the head of the Department of Greek Philology and the Department of Language, History, and Culture of the Black Sea Countries at the same university. He established Greek language and philology departments at universities abroad, overseeing their operation for several years. He has been awarded by the Academy of Athens for his work, is an honorary doctorate recipient from foreign universities, and holds the title of Offikialios of the Ecumenical Throne. He has authored and published more than 20 books and 100 scientific articles in journals in Greece and internationally.
