Nikias Lountzis

Nikias Lountzis is a native of Zakynthos. He studied at the Law School of the University of Athens while also engaging with French and Italian literature. He pursued postgraduate studies in London, specializing in Maritime Law, and attended courses on the History of European Thought. Upon returning to Greece in 1967, he became a member of the Athens Bar Association and practiced law in the international shipping sector. Motivated by the material destruction of his homeland due to earthquakes and fires in 1953, he began to engage in the research and promotion of the Ionian Islands' historical and cultural journey. In 1987, he founded, along with like-minded locals, the association "Friends of the Solomos Museum and Eminent Zakynthians." He also worked as a radio producer, focusing on Ionian music and the history of lyrical art in Greece. He collaborated by presenting program segments with stations such as ERA/B ("Pavlos Carrer," 1986), ERA/G ("The Ionian School and the Birth of the National School," 1986), Free Radio Zakynthos ("I Kiss Your Hand, Madam," 1986-1992), Seven X ("The Second Face of Janus," 1993), ERA/G ("One Hundred Years of Modern Greek Music," 1994), and ERA/G ("Greek Lyrical Singers," 1994-2004).
