
Meropi N. Spyropoulou
Meropi N. Spyropoulou was born in 1939 and grew up in Alexandria, Egypt. She graduated from Averof Girls' High School and studied Dentistry at the Universities of Alexandria and Athens. In 1972, she earned her Doctorate in Dentistry from the University of Athens. In 1976, after postgraduate studies at the University of Michigan in the USA, she obtained a specialty and Master of Science in Orthodontics. In 1978, she was appointed as an Associate Professor of Orthodontics. In 1980, she was elected Full Professor and Head of the Orthodontics Department at the University of Athens, where she served for 26 years. In 2006, following her retirement, she was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus at the University of Athens.
She has been invited to teach at universities in America and Europe and has served as a Visiting Professor at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, and the Universities of Michigan and Saint Louis in the USA. She has been honored with numerous international and Greek scientific distinctions. Alongside her scientific activities, she has shown a keen interest in public affairs and has served as a Member of Parliament. She is a member of various Cultural Organizations and serves on the Boards of the Educational Society, the Friends of the Library of Alexandria Group, and the National Society of Greek Writers.
She has delivered over 400 lectures in many cities across Greece as an invited speaker for various cultural associations, teaches at Parent Schools, and writes for various publications on topics related to Education, Health, and Social Concerns. For many years, she has been a regular contributor to the Radio Station of the Holy Metropolis of Piraeus and the magazines "Piraiki Ecclesia" and "Efthini."
She is married to Nikos D. Spyropoulos, Professor Emeritus at the University of Athens, and they have two sons.
