Giannis Flessas
He is a journalist, born and residing in Athens. He began his journalistic career at "Athlitiki Echo" in 1962 as a film critic. He was a member of the Athens Film Critics Association, chaired by the late Eleni Vlachou. He worked as an arts editor for 26 years at the newspaper "Ethnos" (where he continues to work) and for 5 years at "To Vima". He also worked at "Mesimvrini". He has collaborated with magazines such as "Optikoakoustiki", "Ihos", "Fantazio", "Gynaika", and "Tachydromos". He was a music producer at ERT Radio for 20 years (1977-1997), hosting shows about film music, and he possesses an extensive collection of film music, including rare vinyl and CDs. He has written more than 10 books, the most well-known being "Music on 35 mm". He fell in love with film music at the age of 8, and his favorite soundtrack is "Samson and Delilah", composed by Victor Young, while his favorite composer is Max Steiner. He formed friendships with famous composers such as Miklós Rózsa, Mario Nascimbene, Piero Piccioni, Angelo Lavagnino, Maurice Jarre, Michel Legrand, Gabriel Yared, Michel Portal, and Lalo Schifrin, as well as with the iconic figure of the "flower children", the famous Mexican singer Joan Baez. His hero was Errol Flynn. His books include: "Maria Montez: The Queen of Technicolor" (2008), "Music on 35 mm" (2007), "Journey with Kaiti Grey" (1994), "Journey with Yiannis Parios" (1994), "Journey with Mikis Theodorakis" (1994), "Journey with Vasilis Papakonstantinou" (1993), "Culture, Who Are You Then" (1982), "Music in Cinema" (1981), "Current Views" (1980), "Ideas and Creators" (1979), among others.
