Nikodimos o Agioreitis

Saint Nicodemus the Hagiorite was born in Naxos in 1749. His secular name was Nikolaos, and his family was one of the wealthiest on the island. In 1765, he went to Smyrna and studied for five years under Ierotheos Voulismas. Around 1775, he went to Mount Athos, where he was tonsured a monk with the name Nicodemus. He is one of the most prolific writers of the Church. He passed away on July 14, 1809, at the Skourtaios cell, where his sacred relic is preserved.
