Eirini Mprisimi - Maraki

Rena Brisimi-Maraki was born in Athens in 1960. She attended the Ursuline School and studied philology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Classical Department), graduating with honors in 1982. Since 2011, she holds a PhD from the University of Geneva, specializing in teaching Modern Greek in multilingual classrooms. Since 1990, she has been working as a teacher of Modern Greek and Greek history at the Lycee Franco-Hellenique d'Athenes (Franco-Hellenic School of Agia Paraskevi - middle and high school of the French section), primarily teaching bilingual students. She has been involved in translation and journalism. She holds the Sorbonne II (history of art) and Diplome special de traducteur (literature) in the French language, as well as the Lower and Intermediate Degree of Ridley Hall, Cambridge in English. In 1987, she attended special courses for "animateurs" in Remscheid, Germany. She has written articles on bilingual education and has participated as a speaker in seminars and conferences. Since 1986, she has been married to journalist Nikos Marakis, and they have two children.
