Andreas Apostolidis

Andreas Apostolidis is an author, director, and translator. He has written crime novels such as "Lost Game," "Disorders in Meteora," "The Ghost of the Metro," "Crimes at the 'Apollo' Guesthouse," "Lobotomy," as well as three short story collections: "Paintings and Quirky Animals," "Crime Stories for Five Decades," and "You Are Papadopoulos!" He has translated works by authors such as James Ellroy, Chester Himes, P. Highsmith, Jerome Charyn, R. Chandler, D. Hammett, V. Nabokov, among others, and has written extensive afterwords for their books. In 2006, he published the study "Antiquities Smuggling and the Trade of Antiquities - Museums, Art Dealers, Auction Houses, Private Collections." In 2009, the comprehensive volume "The Many Faces of the Crime Novel: Essays on History and Contemporary Trends" was released. He has directed short films and numerous documentaries, as well as more than a hundred episodes of the TV show "Report Without Borders." "The Network," a documentary investigating the illegal trade of Greek antiquities, garnered international attention. Among his latest works is the series "Twice a Stranger," about the compulsory population exchanges in the 20th century. His documentary "A Place Without People," about the eviction of the Maasai tribe from Tanzania's National Parks, won six international awards.
