Edmond About
Edmond Francois Valentin About (Dieuze 1828-Paris 1885) was a French author, academic, and journalist. In 1852, he moved to Athens as a scholar of the French School. During his four-year stay, he toured the entire country and, upon returning to Paris, published his book "Greece of King Othon." A year later, he published the novel "The King of the Mountains," a work that also stirred a storm of reactions. Around the same time, he began contributing to the newspaper "Le Figaro." He later took on the role of director at the newspaper "20th Century," without ceasing his literary activities, primarily publishing novels.
